I've been frustrated for what seems like at least a few weeks, trying to figure out a version of the song Silent Night that would utilize all different styles and tempos of music, with added verses, so that I could get the maximum whatever I thought it was I could squeeze just a little bit more of out of the song. I've gone over many different possible combinations, from using a few instruments at really slow tempos on various tracks, to playing maybe even a radical variation of the style of the song that would change the general feel of the song in numerous different varying verses. All of the ideas seemed to end up with complications that would make it difficult to blend in some of the verses with the verses done according to the original sheet music. It was like I was trying to create new songs that didn't belong in the final mix; and, a part of my brain went on a writer's strike due to creative differences. Then it just hit me that all of the radical techniques I had thought up, that just didn't fit this particular song, should be reserved for other songs; and, I should do this song exactly how it is written. I don't know why it didn't dawn on me sooner. I was actually trying to rewrite a song that was perfect to begin with. And it even used to bug me sometimes that many people make a minor mistake when they sing the song, according to the original sheet music, when they forget that one of the notes should be dotted. A minor mistake, but noticeable when you are looking for it. So, I decided now that, although I will use many tracks and instruments, blended carefully, they will all be playing the original song, three verses. Now it all makes sense again. I believe it should sound awesome when it is all done. I not only plan to make a 7.1 surround version as an uncompressed .wav file; but, I can mix that down into a stereo version for people who want to listen on headphones, and also post the unmixed multiple track Nuendo file as well in case anyone wants to add vocal tracks to the song and use it and/or post it for other persons to hear. So, I guess the writer's strike is over in my brain...
